Chapter Summary
Psalm 28 is a fervent prayer from David, expressing deep distress and a plea for God's intervention. David cries out to the Lord, his "rock," begging Him not to remain silent, fearing he will perish like the lost if God doesn't respond. He asks God to distinguish him from wicked people who speak peace but harbor evil intentions, and he requests divine justice for their deceitful actions. The psalm then shifts to praise as David confidently declares that God has heard his prayers. He expresses renewed strength and joy, affirming God as his protector and helper. The psalm concludes with a prayer for God's people and His anointed leader, asking for their salvation, blessing, and perpetual care.
Bible:Essence Verses
- I am calling out to you, Lord, my steady support; please don't stay silent when I speak. Because if you don't answer me, I'll become like those who are lost to the grave.
- Please listen to my urgent prayers when I call out to you, especially as I raise my hands toward your sacred dwelling place.
- Don't treat me like the wicked, or lump me with those who do bad things. They speak kindly to their neighbors, but deep inside their hearts, they are planning harm.
- Pay them back for their actions, for all the wicked things they tried to do. Give them what their hands have earned; let them receive their just punishment.
- Since they don't pay attention to what the Lord has done, or recognize the work of his hands, He will completely destroy them and never help them rebuild.
- Praise the Lord, because He heard the sound of my pleading!
- The Lord is my power and my protector; I placed my trust in Him, and He came to my aid. That's why my heart is overflowing with joy, and I will praise Him with my songs.
- The Lord is a strong help for His people, and He is the mighty deliverer for His chosen leader.
- Save your people, and bring good things to those you claim as your own. Watch over them like a shepherd, and raise them up forever.
