Chapter Summary

Genesis Chapter 24 tells the story of Abraham, now very old, entrusting his most loyal servant with a crucial mission: to find a wife for his son, Isaac. Abraham makes the servant swear an oath not to choose a wife from the local Canaanite people, but to travel back to Abraham's homeland and family. The servant journeyed to Mesopotamia and, guided by prayer, met Rebekah at a well. Her acts of kindness and hospitality perfectly matched the specific sign he had asked God for. After confirming her family connection to Abraham, the servant explained his purpose to Rebekah's family, who recognized God's hand in the situation and agreed to let Rebekah return with him. Rebekah willingly assented to the journey. She traveled back, met Isaac in the field, was welcomed into his mother's tent, and became Isaac's beloved wife, bringing him comfort after his mother's death.
