Chapter Summary
Psalm 20 is a communal prayer offered for the king (or leader) before he goes into battle or faces a significant challenge. The people appeal to God to protect their leader, to remember his sacrifices, and to grant him success according to God's will. The psalm expresses strong confidence that the Lord will save His chosen one, contrasting reliance on human strength (like chariots and horses) with unwavering trust in the power and authority of their God. It culminates in a plea for divine deliverance and an affirmation that the Lord, as King, will answer their prayers.
