Chapter Summary
Psalm 35 is a heartfelt prayer from David, crying out to God for help and justice against his enemies. He describes how these adversaries, for no good reason, have attacked him, spread lies, and plotted his downfall, even though he had shown them kindness when they were in trouble. David asks God to stand up for him like a warrior, to defend his cause, and to bring confusion and defeat upon those who wish him harm. He expresses his confidence that when God delivers him, he will joyfully praise the Lord publicly. The Psalm moves between passionate pleas for divine intervention, descriptions of the injustice he faces, and promises of future thanksgiving, ultimately seeking vindication and the triumph of God's righteousness.
